Gallerie Sparta will exhibit the Dr. Jack Kevorkian 11 remaining original oil
paintings for sale for one month. 18 Paintings were created
by Dr. Kevorkian during his life and were originally housed at the
Alma Museum in Boston. Along with the 11 original oil
paintings, the Assisted Suicide Machine called the "Thanatron" that
he built will also be displayed and for sale to the highest
bidder. The starting price is $25,000.
The notorious Dr. Kevorkian, famous for shining the world
spotlight on the terminally ills 9th amendment rights,
was also an acclaimed; artist, author, musical composer, and
inventor. Seven of his books have been published, he held
more than 20 scientific patents, was nominated for a Grammy for his
Organ compositions, and was also nominated for a Nobel Prize. Until
his last days he continued to uphold the right of each American to
choose the timing of their own death. He served eight years in
prison for refusing to halt his work with the terminally ill. Just
prior to starting his long sentence he was the 2nd most
recognizable person in the world, just behind the US President.
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK, a film inspired by the life and times of
the infamous Doctor garnered both Golden Globe and Emmy Awards.
Al Pacino received many honors for
playing Dr. Kevorkian and the film co-stared Susan Sarandon and John
Goodman.
After this final exhibition and sales closes on May 16th, the remaining artifacts from the
Kevorkian estate will be gifted to the Smithsonian Museum of
Natural History. The original oil paintings will not be
available for sale again to collectors. The prices for the
paintings range from twelve thousand U.S.
dollars and up to forty-five thousand
U.S. dollars.
