TORONTO, April 17, 2014 /CNW/ - Great Place to
Work® Institute Canada has named Morningstar
Research Inc. (Morningstar Canada),
a subsidiary of independent investment research provider
Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), as one of this year's Best
Workplaces in Canada.
"It is a tremendous honour for Morningstar Canada to be recognized as one of
the best workplaces in Canada for
the second year in a row," Scott
Mackenzie, president and CEO of Morningstar Canada, said. "Our employees take an
active role in making Morningstar a great place to work. We have
employee action teams focused on responding to the Best Workplaces
in Canada survey feedback, and in
2013, the teams launched a number of successful initiatives that
enhanced our workplace environment. They are eager to review this
year's feedback and get started on developing new initiatives."
The "Best Workplaces in Canada"
list is compiled by Great Place to Work®
Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two
criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement
survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with
their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining
one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the
organization's culture, including an evaluation of human resources
policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of
the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall
portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial
data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great
place to work: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and
camaraderie.
"We would like to recognize and congratulate Morningstar for its
success in creating a great workplace culture," Jose Tolovi Neto, managing partner for Great
Place to Work® Canada, said. "Morningstar was ranked on our 2014
list because employees told us they trust management, have pride in
their jobs, and enjoy the people they work with."
More than 300 Canadian companies were nominated and more than
60,000 employees at those companies participated in the 2014 "Best
Workplaces in Canada"
survey. The full list of winners and related stories can be
