DULUTH, Minn., July 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Holiday Stationstores will be adding compressed natural gas (CNG) to their existing Stationstore located at 3931 W First Street, Duluth, MN.  Holiday will also begin operating CNG‑powered trucks in its fuel delivery fleet. Trillium CNG™ will build, operate, and maintain the public access fast-fill CNG fueling location.  Trillium CNG™ has twenty years of experience and a national network of compressed natural gas locations.  Currently, the local price of CNG ranges between $1.99 and $2.09 per gasoline gallon equivalent.

"We recognize the need to offer customers a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel alternative and are pleased to partner with Trillium CNG™ on the opening," said Brian Ochocki, vice president for Holiday Stationstores. "This will be Holiday's first CNG fueling and we are excited to offer local fleets this option at a convenient location open 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Compared with diesel fuel, natural gas fuel offers a myriad of environmental benefits*, including an approximate 20-25 percent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, up to a 50 percent reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions, 70-90 percent reductions in carbon monoxide emissions and 67-94 percent lower particulate-matter emissions. It is also a lower-cost solution with much more stable prices than gasoline or diesel, due to the lower supply cost of natural gas, when compared to the cost of other petroleum products.

The station, which is open to all vehicles, will have easy access in and out for heavy-duty fleet trucks. The dual hose dispenser will allow two semitrailers to fuel at the same time, and will features Trillium CNG's proprietary fast-fill hydraulic intensifier compressor.

"We are proud to be working with Holiday Stationstores, who recognize the importance of making CNG available in the Duluth market," said Mary Boettcher, president of Trillium CNG. "Fleet operators know that we stake our reputation on delivering a great fueling experience for our customers – fast, safe and reliable." Boettcher also commented that in addition to the environmental impacts, 98 percent of the natural gas used in the United States is produced in North America.  The CNG station in Duluth is expected to be open to the public in mid-September.
