The award-winning brewery offers a unique opportunity to discover one of its most awarded beers in a limited-edition format

CHAMBLY, QC, Nov. 27, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Unibroue, Canada's foremost specialty brewer launches a limited-edition 6-litre format of its award-winning La Fin du Monde today at 3 pm, exclusively at the Summerhill LCBO store.

Earlier today, select media and customers who had purchased advance tickets enjoyed an exclusive tasting event at the Summerhill LCBO store in Toronto.  On top of the 6-litre bottle, which will be available for the first time to Ontario consumers, the event showcased samples from a variety of limited release Unibroue products, featuring La Résolution, Unibroue 17 Grande Réserve, and a Sommelier Pack consisting of a variety of Unibroue favourites, including Blanche de Chambly and Don de Dieu, which were also available for tasting.

Unibroue's Brewmaster Jerry Vietz provided insight on the way the beers are developed, their inspiration, and their crafting. "I'm happy to introduce the new limited-edition 6-litre bottle of La Fin du Monde, in its branded wooden case - only 50 of which will be available in the Ontario market, exclusively at the Summerhill location," says Vietz. "This is one of Unibroue's most iconic beers. It has earned more medals and awards - including some of the world's highest honours - than any other Canadian beer. I'm also thrilled with our fourth edition of the Unibroue 17 Grande Réserve, another multiple award-winner, which is brewed only once a year."

The event also marked the introduction of Unibroue's new, limited edition beer: La Résolution, a strong spiced ale that's sure to make its mark in Canada.

La Résolution is a special brew, available for a limited time only. This high-end dark ale was inspired by a recipe Jerry Vietz concocted for his friends. At 10% alcohol, its spicy caramel aroma evolves on the palate into pleasant and complex notes of toffee reminiscent of a tasty gingerbread. Its perfect balance between spicy, caramel and roasted malt flavours is complemented by a nice roundness and persistent finish.

Finally the tasting also featured offerings from the Sommelier Pack, which consists of a collection of some of the brewery's most awarded beers: Blanche de Chambly (Belgian white ale), La Fin du Monde (triple-style golden ale), Trois Pistoles (abbey style strong black ale), Maudite (strong amber-red ale), Éphémère Pomme (white ale brewed with apple must) and Don de Dieu (triple wheat ale).

The 6-litre bottles are only available at the LCBO's Summerhill location, but Unibroue beers are available at LCBO stores across the province, in a variety of formats. Blanche de Chambly and La Fin du Monde are offered year-round in 341mL pack formats. Unibroue 17 Grande Réserve is available in its 2014 vintage, its fourth annual release at the LCBO. La Résolution, the latest addition to the Unibroue family, is a limited release for the fall season, available while supplies last.
