Macy’s Santaland® Opens on Friday,
November 28
As the young and young-at-heart enter Santaland on the eighth
floor of Macy’s Herald Square, the World’s Largest Store, they are
suddenly transported into a fantasy world of glittering pine trees,
snow-capped mountains, twinkling lights, cuddly animals and
gingerbread cookies.
Each Christmas, visitors from around the world gather at this
13,000-square-foot Christmas Village overflowing with holiday
treasures for a special visit with the one and only Santa Claus.
The magical journey begins all aboard the Macy’s Santaland
Express, which sweeps guests through a rarely seen world of
wintertime wonder and enchantment. On board this magical train
façade, visitors pass through North Pole villages and snow-covered
fields on their way to meet Mr. Kringle.
After the bumpy train ride, visitors descend into an enchanted
winter wonderland – also known as … the North Pole! Santa’s elves
eagerly greet passengers while lights, garlands, and crystal
sparkle overhead and adorn every corner. At The Welcome
Station, eager spectators will find Santa’s little helpers very
informative about Santaland, and can determine the length of the
much-anticipated wait to see the Man in Red.
The first attraction guests will notice is the
Domino® Sugar Bake Shoppe where freshly-baked
gingerbread cookies and decadent mini cupcakes are set out to cool.
Giant gingerbread men keep a watchful eye over the baked goods to
shoo away sneaky snackers.
Close by, the Aflac Ducks are putting on their skates and
preparing to hit the ice rink. At the same time, reindeer Gus and
Dave can be overheard reciting their comedy routine for the
Build-A-Bear Workshop® Macy’s Woodland
Revue.
Children of all ages will be delighted and amused as they
continue on to Santaland’s very own Bobby Blizzard and The
Below-Zeroes (the official North Pole Choir Conductor).
Around the bend, igloos and ice sculptures make way for
Christmas trees, holly and colorful poinsettias, as visitors
discover they have entered The Enchanted Forest.
The Enchanted Forest leads the way to the Rainbow Bridge,
a colorful sight for all to see. Train whistles ahead announce the
impressive Lionel Trains® Industrial City. Six
complete sets of authentic trains and tracks surrounding a six-foot
tall Christmas tree, are also on their way to visit Santa Claus to
deliver last minute holiday wish lists. The massive display
includes a series of steam engines, tankers and locomotives.
As guests make their way through Town Hall and peek
around the corner, they can catch a glimpse into a cozy stable,
where Santa’s sleigh is being prepped and his reindeer are resting
before their magical Christmas Eve journey.
Continuing on, they arrive at the toyshop where all the trinkets
and gadgets delivered on Christmas Eve are imagined, constructed,
and loaded onto Santa’s sleigh, which is stacked high with
glittering presents. This shiny red sleigh is a reminder to all who
pass that Santa Claus is coming to town.
Finally, beaming elves personally escort awe-struck children
through a gigantic archway leading into a thick maze of pine trees.
Once through, they have arrived in the one-and-only Santa Claus’s
home, where the jolly old man is ready to scoop his visitors onto
his lap and ask them what they would like for Christmas. They’ll be
certain it’s him once they hear his infectious Ho Ho Ho and
signature Merry Christmas!
Their visit will end as each child receives a little keepsake
from Santa to commemorate their visit. Santa greets children of all
ages, both naughty and nice, at Macy’s Herald Square daily from
Friday, Nov. 28 through Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24.
An express pass is available for guests who want to save time
