Awarded ‘Mais Valor 2014’ (More Value 2014) Supplier of the Year for Driving Innovation and Achieving Real Benefits Through the Silver Spring, IPv6 Standards-Based Network

Silver Spring Networks (NYSE:SSNI) today announced that it has received the ‘Mais Valor 2014’ (More Value 2014) award from CPFL Energia, Brazil’s largest privately–held electricity group, for the deployment of the Silver Spring IPv6, standards-based smart grid network platform for Advanced Metering Infrastructure for Group A clients. CPFL Energia recognized Silver Spring for helping achieve its operational goals, including greater efficiency, reduced costs and improved service quality, for the smart grid program, which is part of CPFL’s ‘Tauron’ infrastructure modernization initiative. In the first year of deployment, CPFL Energia recorded success rate for meter readings exceeding 98%. This program for Group A consumers comprises all CPFL’s clients of High and Medium Voltage (AT and MT), which represents more than 40% of CPFL’s total revenue.

“We are proud to receive this recognition from our partner CPFL Energia and to help them unlock more benefits for their customers in Brazil. We look forward to continuing to modernize their energy grid and to deliver even more value moving forward,” said Scott Lang, Chairman, President and CEO, Silver Spring Networks.

“Silver Spring Networks’ wireless network infrastructure has exceeded all our initial expectations in delivering a world-class smart grid program for over 25,000 Group A customers, contributing also for our own operational efficiency improvements,” said Paulo Ricardo Bombassaro, engineering director at CPFL Energia. “By deploying two-way communications technology, we have increased our network reliability, achieved faster response times, and optimized operations for increased productivity and less travel time.”

“It is a great honor to be recognized by CPFL Energia, a true energy sector pioneer, for our smart grid deployment. This award demonstrates the value and tangible benefits that can be delivered through Silver Spring’s IPv6 network infrastructure,” added Gadner Vieira, General Manager, Silver Spring Networks Brazil. “We are proud of the work from our employees and the collaboration between the Silver Spring and CPFL Energia teams, and we look forward to further strengthening our joint efforts in delivering world-class energy infrastructure in Brazil.”
