The U.S. dollar strengthened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Wednesday.

The U.S. dollar rose to more than 1-1/2-month high of 0.9627 against the Swiss franc, from yesterday's closing value of 0.9608.

Against the euro and the pound, the greenback edged up to 1.1164 and 1.5344 from yesterday's closing quotes of 1.1174 and 1.5355, respectively.

Moving away from an early low of 119.48 against the yen, the greenback edged up to 119.77.

The greenback edged up to 1.2506 against the Canadian dollar. At yesterday's close, the greenback was trading at 1.2494 against the loonie. If the greenback extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 1.02 against the franc, 1.10 against the euro, 1.51 against the pound, 122.05 against the yen and 1.28 against the loonie.
