MIAMI, March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dolphin Digital Media announced today that principal photography of the original series "South Beach" has commenced in Miami, Florida.  The series will be released exclusively on Hulu starting in 3Q 2015.

"South Beach" is set in the midst of an escalating rivalry between the two most powerful record labels in Miami.  Long-time leader Donovan Lear Entertainment represents Carmen Suarez, a gorgeous pop star who tops the charts in both English and Spanish.  As Carmen prepares to embark on a world tour behind her latest #1 single, her life is complicated when she falls for Michael Bell, the up-and-coming DJ from ADLV Music Group, Donovan Lear's hated rival run by his former flame, Antigone de la Vega.  Antigone's life is turned upside down when her fiancĂ©, Gus Garcia, the beloved Mayor of Miami Beach, is murdered under mysterious circumstances.  Meanwhile, the most dangerous member of Miami's criminal underworld, Isaac Santero, is plotting a bold move that will shake the foundations of South Beach.

"South Beach is the perfect setting for a fun, fast-paced, music-driven series," said Bill O'Dowd, CEO, Dolphin Digital Media.  "The guilty pleasure themes of love, longing, betrayal and revenge are simply addictive, and are interwoven throughout the script's captivating multi-layered plotlines.  We're all very excited for the premiere on Hulu this summer."

Directed by Joshua Caldwell ("Layover," "Dig,") and written by Brian Hurwitz ("Hiding," "Stranded"), the series features an ensemble cast of Ana Villafane as "Carmen Suarez" (upcoming Mattel franchise feature film "Max Steel," "Hiding"), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood as nightclub owner "Samantha Lear" ("The Bold and the Beautiful," "Anger Management"), Manny Montana as A&R executive "Octavio Cruz" ("Graceland," "Cybergeddon"), and Jordi Vilasuso as "Isaac Santero" (Daytime Emmy-Award Winner). The cast also includes Arlene Tur, Marc Menard, Deniz Akdeniz, Eddie Finlay and Steve DuMouchel

The songs and score for the series are being written and produced by executive music producer Ali Dee Theodore of DeeTown Entertainment.  Ali Dee Theodore has created music for more than 40 #1 box office films and produced the RIAA triple platinum single "Cups" by Anna Kendrick from the film "Pitch Perfect."

On the marketing side, a unique promotional window deal was also struck with AOL that includes exclusive content to help drive awareness and viewership of the series on Hulu.
