Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced the Selling on Amazon and
Fulfillment by Amazon offerings in Mexico for businesses of all
sizes to list and sell their products at Amazon.com.mx. In 2014,
sellers worldwide on Amazon set a new record by selling more than 2
billion items. Today, more than 40 percent of Amazon's total unit
sales come from third-party selection.
Customers flock to Amazon because of the vast selection of items
across a diverse set of categories, at low prices. At launch,
Amazon.com.mx has the largest selection of items in Mexico, with
millions of unique items available to customers for local delivery.
Mexican customers searching for local or imported items will be
able to browse and purchase products available from Mexican
businesses and online sellers.
“When sellers list on Amazon, they have the opportunity to reach
more customers, build their business and make money. Amazon is a
powerful sales channel for businesses of all sizes in Mexico,
enabling them to efficiently launch or grow their sales online,”
said Germán Pérez-Duarte, Director of Mexico Seller Services.
“Bringing business, retailers and resellers to the Amazon.com.mx
platform ultimately provides customers with the best shopping
experience through greater access to a vast selection of unique
items.”
Sellers on Amazon are no longer limited by their physical
geographic location and the cost of driving customer traffic to
their branded websites. On Amazon, sellers can:
- Add new products to the Amazon catalog,
with no product listing fees
- Have Amazon handle customer service,
shipping, and fulfillment with the Fulfillment by Amazon
service
- Control product selection and
pricing
- Become eligible for top placement on
product detail pages
- Manage the business and inventory from
a single Amazon seller account
- Customize shipping rates
- Utilize the secure payments
infrastructure that protects sellers and allows customers to shop
with confidence
Selling on Amazon is making a difference for businesses
worldwide. Here’s what sellers from other locales are saying:
“The last six months [since we started on
Amazon] have been filled with so much positive energy and joy,
there are just not words. It is so nice to be a part of something
that works, which is a success! My initial sales goal for Amazon in
our first year was $5,000, and we are now at more than ten times
that. Those may not be big numbers for some, but they sure are for
us.” - Daylily Nursery – Nashville, United States
“So I started selling on Amazon in April of
2011, and by the time we became the top Amazon lunchbox seller in
June, we had between 50 and 75 orders a day. When we hit August and
September – our busiest time, with the start of the school year –
we had 300, sometimes 500 orders a day. It was just phenomenal.” -
EasyLunchboxes – Woodland Hills, United States
"At first, most of our sales were from the
physical store, and Internet sales were a complement. Now it's the
opposite: our online sales far exceed those from the physical
store, and the number of orders from Amazon are double those from
our own site." - Somos Papás – Guadalajara, Spain
Fulfillment by AmazonIn
addition, Amazon is launching its innovative and popular
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program for sellers in Mexico. With the
program, sellers utilize Amazon storage and shipping expertise to
cost-effectively and efficiently get their products to customers.
Sellers on Amazon around the world continue to adopt FBA at a rapid
pace because it enables Amazon to fulfill orders and provide
award-winning customer service on their behalf. In a 2014 survey of
U.S. sellers on Amazon, 71 percent of businesses using the FBA
service reported that their unit sales on Amazon.com increased at
least 20 percent after joining the FBA program.
“Our goal is to make selling on Amazon.com.mx as simple as
possible, whether you’re a local business new to ecommerce or an
established business looking to grow sales in a new online
channel,” added Pérez-Duarte. “With Fulfillment by Amazon, we do
the heavy operational lifting so sellers can grow their business by
focusing on core functions like sourcing new products or operating
their brick and mortar stores.”
Amazon has created one of the most advanced fulfillment networks
in the world and FBA makes it possible for businesses to take
advantage of Amazon’s 20 year investment in technology and
innovation to better serve customers. By leveraging Amazon’s
technology, logistics infrastructure and customer service
expertise, Mexican businesses can also expand beyond their domestic
market and list their inventory on other Amazon websites.
“Amazon's arrival in Mexico is crucial for our digital growth
strategy at Gamers,” said Daniel Cervantes, CEO of Gamers, one of
the top videogame retailers in Mexico. “With Amazon, we will now be
able to sell videogames to millions of consumers while Amazon takes
care of all the operations, logistics, and customer service for us.
Now we can concentrate on many other business initiatives while
Amazon helps us boost our online sales channel.”
