  • Appointment deepens capital raising and origination capabilities within PCM platform and further strengthens Macquarie’s West Coast presence

Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investing arm of Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) (ASX:MQG; ADR:MQBKY), today announced the appointment of Anand Subramanian as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Private Capital Markets in its San Francisco office.

Mr. Subramanian has more than two decades of industry experience, having spent the majority of his career raising private capital for growing companies, and has a track record for launching new successful business lines. He joins from Qatalyst Partners, where he executed on a number of significant transactions after establishing its private capital business. He was previously Head of Technology Private Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley where he also scaled its private capital markets business.

“Private capital has become an increasing significant source of financing across all industries. Macquarie has a unique ability to support clients with its own proprietary capital and by accessing its strong third-party network,” said Larry Handen, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Principal Transactions Group at Macquarie Capital. “This requires a sophisticated approach to the market, flexibility across capital structures, as well as deep and collaborative relationships. Anand is a proven talent and we are excited to add him to our team. Anand will work closely with Sean Fitzgerald in jointly leading our PCM efforts as we develop this business more broadly.”

“Macquarie Capital focuses on creating opportunities for clients and delivering innovative solutions. The benefit of private capital is that it can provide clients with access to equity or debt that matches their preferred tenor, governance and goals,” said Michael Silverton, Head of US and Latin America for Macquarie Capital. “We have a successful track record of matching investors with opportunities in real asset classes and increasingly see opportunity to do the same in other industries experiencing growth such as technology, consumer, energy, financials and services.”

Macquarie Capital continues to actively expand its West Coast business; the appointment of Mr. Subramanian follows the addition of two recent hires in the firm’s Los Angeles office: Tom Amster as Senior Managing Director and Head of US Financial Sponsors and Hershel Gerson as Managing Director focused on Consumer and Retail. In addition, Macquarie recently hired Chip Gibbs in San Francisco as Head of Corporate Services, focused on share repurchases, at-the-market offerings (ATMs) and strategic equity solutions. Over the last twelve months, Macquarie Capital has made a number of senior appointments across industry groups including: TMT, Real Estate, Aerospace & Defense, Midstream Energy, and Financial Institutions Group as well as Debt Capital Markets and Credit Sales.
