German premium car maker Audi AG (NSU.XE) said Tuesday that it plans to partner with China's Huawei Technologies Co. to work on projects related to automated and connected vehicles.

Audi, which is part of Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE), said it signed a memorandum of understanding for a strategic cooperation with the Chinese telecommunications and technology company on Tuesday.

The agreement follows a meeting between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel this week in Berlin.
