SSE PLC (SSE.LN) said Friday that it has completed the construction, commissioning and energization of the new Caithness-Moray electricity transmission link in Scotland, its largest-ever single investment.

The energy company said the total spend on the project is expected to be 970 million pounds ($1.24 billion), within an initial budget of GBP1.06 billion.

SSE said the transmission link was completed on time and within Ofgem's requirements.

The Caithness-Moray link provides up to 1.2 gigawatts of capacity to transmit power from the increasing sources of renewable energy from across the far north of Scotland, SSE said.
