Airbus SE (AIR.FR) said Monday that the German government has placed a firm order for three of its wide-body twin-engine planes.

The three ACJ350-900 XWB aircraft--which should be delivered between 2020 and 2022--will be used to transport troops and government staff, as well as for medical evacuations, the European plane maker said.

Total orders for the A350 XWB stand at around 900 jets, including over 250 that are already in service, Airbus said.
