Eni SpA (ENI.MI) said Wednesday that production at its Zohr gas field in Egypt has reached 2.7 billion cubic feet per day, around five months ahead of schedule.

A second 30-inch pipeline connecting the offshore production facilities to the onshore treatment plant opened on Aug. 18, Eni said.

Based on the solid performance so far, Eni said it expects production to reach 3.2 billion cubic feet a day by the end of the year, compared with a previous forecast for production to peak at 2.7 billion cubic feet a day.
