French banking group BNP Paribas SA said Tuesday that it has made two senior appointments to its Nordic global markets team as it seeks to grow its corporate and institutional banking business in the region.

Claus Buch-Andersen is appointed as head of global markets Nordics institutional sales.

BNP Paribas said that after four years of co-managing the Nordic global markets institutional franchise in fixed income, Mr. Buch-Andersen will relocate to Stockholm and drive institutional sales efforts across rates, foreign-exchange, credit, equity derivatives, commodities and solutions.

Johan Wessman is appointed as head of global markets Nordics corporate sales. After several years in FX and rates, Mr. Wessman will relocate to Stockholm and drive corporate sales efforts across rates, FX, credit, strategic equity and commodities for all corporate clients.

"As part of BNP Paribas's ambition to be the leading banking partner in EMEA, the Nordic region has been identified as a strategic priority where the group aims to grow its corporate and institutional banking, which includes global markets business and further drive the expansion in the region," the bank said.
