BASF Names New Chief Technology Officer, Makes Changes in Board

BASF SE said Thursday that it has named a new chief technology
officer and that it has made additional changes to its board of
executive directors.
The German chemicals conglomerate said it has appointed Melanie
Maas-Brunner as its new chief technology officer, effective from
Feb 1, 2021, when she will also become a member of the board of
executive directors.
Ms. Maas-Brunner will succeed Martin Brudermueller in the role.
Mr. Brudermueller will remain chairman of the board.
The company also said Wayne T. Smith is leaving the board as of
May 31, 2021 and will be succeeded by Michael Heinz in his
responsibilities in the North America region.
The takeover will be effective from June 1, 2021, after a
transition period. Mr. Heinz will retain his responsibilities for
the South America region, BASF said.
