Enel SpA's subsidiary Enel Green Power SpA said Tuesday that it
has started operations at its Nxuba wind farm in South Africa.
The renewable-energy company said the site --which was built
with an investment of 200 million euros ($244.9 million)-- is
operated by South African subsidiary Enel Green Power RSA Ltd. The
wind farm has a capacity of 140 megawatts.
Support for the wind farm comes from a 20-year power supply
agreement with the South African energy utility Eskom, and its
operations will avoid the emission of about 460,000 tons of carbon
dioxide per year, according to Enel Green Power.
