Sentiment in the French manufacturing sector rose in January, recovering to the level of March 2020, before the first coronavirus lockdown in the country.

Figures from the French national statistics agency's monthly survey on Thursday showed manufacturing sentiment rose to 98 in January compared with un upwardly revised level of 94 in December.

The reading was above economists' consensus forecast of 94 in a survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal.
