UniCredit SpA has submitted its list of candidates for the board of directors to be voted on by shareholders, the Italian bank said late Wednesday.

The list includes as nominee for chief executive Andrea Orcel, most recently president of UBS AG's investment-bank division. Former Italian finance minister Pietro Carlo Padoan is the nominee for chairman of the UniCredit board.

The proposals will be submitted at the next meeting of shareholders, UniCredit said. The list includes 11 nominees for a 13-strong board, with two directors elected from the list that obtained the highest number of votes among the minority lists, according to the bank's articles of association.

UniCredit said the slate offers significant experience of management roles in relevant markets, and also respects diversity, especially in gender, with a 45% female composition.
