Smith & Nephew plc Appoints Group Strategy & Business
Development Director LONDON, October 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Smith & Nephew plc (LSE:SNLSE: NYSE:LSE:SNN), is pleased to
announce that Sarah Byrne-Quinn has joined the company as Group
Director, Strategy & Business Development. Reporting to Sir
Christopher O'Donnell, Chief Executive, Sarah will be based in
London and responsible for leading Smith & Nephew's
International business development and her role will include
working closely with senior management to develop the company's
overall strategy. Ms Byrne-Quinn, has previously worked in the US
and UK with Ameritech, Merrill Lynch, NatWest Markets and Robert
Fleming leading and managing a number of successful strategic
initiatives and international mergers and acquisitions. Most
recently she was Senior Vice-President of Strategy and Corporate
Development at Cable & Wireless, where she led the corporate
strategy and business development functions. Smith & Nephew has
made three acquisitions this year: MMT, the Birmingham
Hip-Resurfacing implant company for its orthopaedics business; Reed
Medical, an audio visual systems integrator to strengthen its
endoscopic digital operating room business; and Versajet, a
water-jet wound de-brider product for the advanced wound management
business. Commenting on this appointment, Sir Christopher O'Donnell
