FTSE 100 to Rise After Gains in US, Asia

0647 GMT - The FTSE 100 is seen recovering some ground after gains in U.S. and Asian stocks with spreadbetter IG expecting the London stocks index to open 40 points higher after closing 68 points lower Thursday. "Because of the positive U.S. close, and positive Asia session, European markets are set to see a positive open, with today's focus on U.K. retail sales for May, and the latest German IFO survey for June," CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson writes. U.K. retail sales fell 0.5% on month in May versus the 0.7% decline expected by economists in a WSJ survey. April's data was revised lower to show 0.4% growth versus 1.4% growth previously. The German IFO survey is due at 0800 GMT. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
