London Stocks Seen Opening Higher
0749 GMT - The FTSE 100 index is expected to open 19 points
higher, according to IG, having closed on Monday at 7474.02 as
equities and oil prices recovered during Asian trade. "Stocks and
oil prices staged a turnaround in Asia overnight, following reports
that China would provide fresh support to the property sector,
while hopes of an earlier loosening of Covid restrictions in
response to public unrest added to the positive tone of the
session," IG analysts write. Risk assets in Europe and the U.S. are
set to recover after Monday's losses, but nervousness will persist
ahead of a speech Wednesday by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell,
IG says. (jessica.fleetham@wsj.com)
