FTSE 100 Poised to Rise After Mixed Asia Trading

0740 GMT - The FTSE 100 looks set to open about 21 points higher at 7906, according to IG futures data, though Wall Street closed lower and Asia trades mixed. Australian and Japanese stocks fall, but markets in mainland China and Hong Kong rise. The Dow closed Wednesday 0.6% lower. "The weekly jobless claims in the U.S. might be worth keeping an eye on Thursday, given the intense focus on the labor market from the Fed," Danske Bank analysts say in a note. "So far, jobless claims have not shown any signs of increasing." (philip.waller@wsj.com)
