International stocks trading in New York closed mixed on Monday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts ticked down 0.1% to 139.76. The European index edged down 0.3% to 135.84. The Asian index retreated 0.1% to 161.34. The Latin American index rose 1.2% to 174.86, while the emerging-markets index gained 0.2% to 270.84.

AstraZeneca PLC was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The pharmaceutical giant edged down 0.7% following news that its Forxiga drug has been recommended for approval in the European Union for certain types of heart failure, while its Imfinzi and Imjudo combinations have been recommended for marketing authorization in the EU for advanced liver and lung cancer.

Clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company atai Life Sciences slipped 4.5% following news that it initiated its Phase 2b proof-of-concept clinical trial for RL-007 for cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia.
