PR Newswire (US)
Process Automation Solution Aids Streamlined Document Verification
and Reduces State Dependency on Paper Records COSTA MESA, Calif.
and MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FileNet
Corporation (NASDAQ:FILE), the leading provider of Enterprise
Content and Business Process Management solutions, and
BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE:BE), one of the world's largest management
and technology consulting firms, today announced the establishment
of a teaming relationship for the delivery of a new process
automation and records management solution. The solution is
designed to assist state Departments of Motor Vehicles (DMVs) in
complying with the Real ID Act of 2005. (Logo:

Leveraging expertise both firms have gained working with DMVs and
other state agencies across the U.S., the solution offers DMVs the
ability to take advantage of leading practices that can be scaled
to meet their unique requirements and starting points. The
FileNet/BearingPoint solution enables DMVs to automate the entire
document validation process. The solution assists DMVs in
performing legally-mandated information gathering and
authentication activities, including record storage and declaration
as dictated by Real ID Act and applicable state law provisions.
Further, the solution helps to substantially reduce the need to
retain paper documents by validating and storing all documents
electronically -- providing DMVs with improved disaster recovery
capabilities. Signed into law in May 2005, the Real ID Act and its
subsequent implementing regulations mandate certain uniform
criteria for the content and issuance of state identification
cards, including driver's licenses. In doing so, the Act
establishes a federal standard for driver's licenses throughout the
United States. The Real ID Act calls for states to normalize
processes for collection and storage of cardholder data, as well as
standardize driver's license and identification document security
standards by May 2008. Additionally, states must support
inter-state information sharing and integration with federal
systems. Beyond assisting with regulatory compliance, the solution
offers state DMVs the ability to achieve improved operational
efficiencies. With integrated information management features that
offer rapid document retrieval, DMVs can reduce the time required
to process ID card applications and respond to other customer
inquiries. "As state DMVs look toward meeting the 2008 deadline for
compliance with the Real ID Act, FileNet and BearingPoint are
committed to continuing our ongoing support, providing them with an
enhanced solution to meet current and future enterprise content and
business process management requirements," said Martyn Christian,
chief marketing officer of FileNet. "We are pleased to continue and
expand our long-standing relationship with BearingPoint to offer
this new, essential solution." "The FileNet/BearingPoint solution
for Real ID Act compliance illustrates our collaborative and
continued dedication to the public sector," said Gary Miglicco,
Vice President of BearingPoint's national Motor Vehicle Solutions
practice. "We are committed to working with DMVs as they continue
to embrace technology to improve operations." Bolstering its
ability to help state governments with Real ID Act compliance,
BearingPoint has nearly a decade of experience in security and
identity management solution programs, including helping to develop
secure identity card programs and applications for the U.S.
Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, General
Services Administration, Maritime Administration (or Department of
