Rocket Fuel’s Moment Scoring™ Technology
Delivers 241 Percent Return When Targeting Previous EDF Donors
Rocket Fuel (NASDAQ:FUEL), a leading Programmatic Marketing
Platform provider, today published a customer success story that
highlights the dramatic return a client received with the company’s
artificial intelligence-driven Moment Scoring™ technology.
Environmental Defense Fund’s (EDF) 2015 year-end fundraising
campaign using Rocket Fuel’s Direct Response achieved an impressive
241 percent return on ad spend (ROAS) when targeting previous EDF
donors, and an overall 194 percent ROAS.
“Rocket Fuel had the lowest CPA and the highest ROAS among all
of our ad serving partners,” said Aviva Downing, Digital
Acquisition, Environmental Defense Fund. “As a non-profit, we need
to maximize the efficiency of our marketing spend. Rocket Fuel’s
platform helped us inspire more year-end giving at a better return
on ad spend than ever before.”
The campaign, which ran during the fourth quarter of 2015,
produced an overall ROAS increase of 41 percent compared to 2014.
The prospecting portion of Rocket Fuel’s program produced a 70
percent ROAS. This was 13 percent higher than the next best
performing vendor.
EDF faces a perennial challenge -- the end of the year is a hard
time to reach donors since there are so many causes appealing for
support over the holiday season. EDF partnered with Rocket Fuel to
deploy a two-pronged approach. First, EDF carved key donors from
their database and Rocket Fuel facilitated moving that donor
segment online for ad targeting through an onboarding partnership.
Direct targeting of first-party data, in conjunction with Rocket
Fuel’s Moment Scoring™ technology, proved a powerful combination
for driving donor activity.
Second, EDF allocated nearly 40 percent of their campaign budget
toward finding new donors. Rocket Fuel’s artificial intelligence
ran audience models focused on identifying prospective donors. The
models proved so successful that EDF increased their media spend by
25%.
“We chose Rocket Fuel because they have made a serious
commitment to its politics and advocacy business,” said Downing.
“With an office right in Washington, D.C., and a dedicated team,
the support they provided was outstanding. They helped us drive
great results with full transparency.”
“Our DC-based team was delighted to work with EDF, one of the
world’s largest and most well-respected non-profit environmental
organizations,” said JC Medici, Rocket Fuel’s national director of
politics and advocacy. “Rocket Fuel is proud to partner with
non-profit groups, like EDF. By leveraging our proprietary Moment
Scoring™ technology to find optimal moments to identify potential
donors, EDF was able to raise the funds needed to make their work,
protecting the environment, possible.”
