Alphabet Inc. is rolling out new artificial intelligence features to Google Workspace, including Google Docs and Gmail, as the race for dominance in the AI space heats up among technology giants.

Johanna Voolich Wright, vice president of product at Google Workspace, said the company will eventually bring various features to all aspects of the Workspace suite of products, including the company's video-conferencing and messaging services, spreadsheets and slideshows.

First, the company is planning to embed generative AI in its Docs and Gmail services so that users can type a topic that they would like to write about, and the technology will generate a draft. Other uses will help people rewrite their drafts and fine-tune their written voices.

Google Cloud Chief Executive Thomas Kurian said the company is also debuting features that allow developers and businesses to try new APIs and products that help businesses build with Google's AI models and through Google's cloud-computing offerings.
