Meta Platforms Inc.'s board of directors has agreed to pay for personal security services for outgoing Chief Operations Officer Sheryl Sandberg following threats to her safety.

Ms. Sandberg will no longer be an employee of the company after Friday but will remain as a member of the board. The board has agreed to pay for certain costs related to personal security at her residences and during personal travel, Meta said in a Friday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The provision begins Saturday and spans up to June 30 of next year, the Facebook parent company said.

Ms. Sandberg said in June that she would be stepping down from her role as operating chief after being with the company for 14 years.
