International stocks trading in New York closed mixed Friday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged down 0.4% to 120.20. The European index ticked down 0.5% to 112.76. The Asian index moved down 0.4% to 143.35. The Latin American index rose 1.2% to 174.48, while the emerging-markets index edged up 0.4% to 248.89.

ABB Ltd. was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The Swiss technology company slipped 1.1% after it said it will take a $325 million third-quarter provision regarding remaining matters related to the Kusile power-station project in South Africa.

U.K. bank Barclays PLC lost 1.2% after the company said the financial impact related to the Securities and Exchange Commission agreement is expected to remain materially in line with the previously disclosed amount.
