Insurer Aflac Inc. said Friday it has extended paid leave for
employees who experience symptoms consistent with the disease
caused by the novel coronavirus and will waive co-pays for
employees and dependents.
The additional measures, in place through June 30, allow for up
to 30 additional calendar days of paid leave for employees who
experience symptoms consistent with or are diagnosed with Covid-19,
the disease caused by the virus.
The company will cover the cost for Covid-19 tests and waive any
co-pays when using telemedicine to receive a consultation for
symptoms related to Covid-19.
In addition, Aflac said currently about 45% of employees worked
remotely but was trying to make it possible for more workers to do
so.
"The company has ensured all employees working remotely see no
disruption in compensation and benefits and are reimbursed for
expenses associated with working remotely and productively," the
company said.
Aflac said it has no confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.S.,
where it employs more than 5,700 workers.
