BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amedisys, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AMED; or the "Company"), one of America's leading home
health nursing companies, today announced that the Company has been
ranked seventh on FORTUNE magazine's annual "100 Fastest-Growing
Companies" list. Amedisys is the only home health nursing company
on the list. According to the publication, the "100 Fastest-Growing
Companies" list was based on three equally weighted factors: both
profit and sales growth (for three years through the first quarter
of 2006) and three-year total return to investors (through the
second quarter of 2006). Zacks Investment Research provided the
data, and the overall rank is based on the sum of the three ranks.
"Amedisys is honored to be ranked in the top ten of FORTUNE's
prestigious list of the 100 Fastest-Growing Companies," said
William F. Borne, Chief Executive Officer of Amedisys, Inc. "We
continue to focus on executing a growth strategy that primarily
focuses on organic growth, which is supplemented by expansion
through our disciplined acquisition and start-up strategies. These
growth strategies have helped produce a three-year annualized EPS
growth rate of 121 percent, a three-year annualized revenue growth
rate of 49 percent and a three-year annualized total return to
investors of 89 percent; based on FORTUNE's calculation methods."
"Amedisys' accomplishments would not be possible without the
enthusiasm and commitment of our employees, which is by far our
greatest strength in ensuring our competitive advantage in the
markets we serve," continued Mr. Borne. "Therefore, I would like to
extend my heartfelt thanks to all of our Amedisys staff whose
dedicated efforts have helped us each and every day to carry out
our mission." Amedisys, Inc., a leading provider of home health
