LONDON-- Oil company Cairn Energy PLC (CNE.LN) Thursday announced the appointment of Eric Hathon from Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) as its director of exploration, succeeding Richard Heaton who is retiring.

Mr. Heaton will step down in May, the company said.

Shares at 0804 GMT, unchanged at 229 pence valuing the company at GBP1.3 billion.
