Solvay SA said Monday that it will halt operations and new investments in Russia.

The Belgian chemical company said it will suspend dividend payments from Rusvinyl, an independent 50-50 joint venture with petrochemicals company Sibur.

Rusvinyl operates a polyvinyl chloride plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia.
