RWE AG has signed a supply agreement with Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. to deliver liquefied natural gas to Germany in late December.

The German energy company said Sunday that the cargo will be supplied to Elbehafen LNG, which will operate a floating storage and regasification unit chartered by RWE on behalf of the German government.

The cargo will be 137,000 cubic meters of LNG and will be the first LNG to be supplied to the German gas market via the floating import terminal at Brunsbuttel, near Hamburg.

The two companies have also signed a memorandum of understanding on multiyear LNG supplies with delivery starting from 2023, RWE said.
