The U.K.'s Office of Communications said Friday that it is launching a consultation on a pricing offer for full-fiber broadband that BT Group PLC's Openreach intends to introduce from April 1.

Under Ofcom rules, Openreach must notify it of certain offers 90 days before they come into force so it can prevent harm to competition by restricting any offers that are anti-competitive. On Dec. 14, Openreach notified Ofcom of new wholesale pricing arrangements for its full-fiber services.

The regulator's provisional view is that it shouldn't intervene as it considers the offer is not anti-competitive and is consistent with the rules

Responses are being invited until March 4.
