    First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. seeks adjournment of annual and special meeting
of shareholders

    CALGARY, April 7 /CNW/ - First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. ("First Calgary"
or the "Company") announces that it intends to make an application to the
Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta seeking an adjournment of the annual and
special meeting of shareholders scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2008. In light
of the letter First Calgary received from the Minister of Energy and Mines of
Algeria yesterday, the board of directors believes it is necessary to adjourn
the meeting to allow shareholders time to fully consider the implications of
the Minister's letter and the disclosure contained in the circulars of First
Calgary and Waterford Finance and Investment Limited so that shareholders are
able to form a reasoned judgment concerning the matters to be decided at the
Meeting.
    If the meeting is adjourned to the requested date of April 18, 2008, the
deadline for submitting proxies will be extended to no later than 48 hours
(excluding Saturdays and holidays) prior to the commencement of the adjourned
meeting, subject to the order of the Court.
    First Calgary will provide a further update following the determination
of the Court on its application.
