U.K. transportation company Go-Ahead Group PLC said on Wednesday
that it welcomed the announcement made by the U.K. government
regarding the extension of funding of bus services in England until
2022.
On Tuesday, the Department for Transport announced a further
226.4 million pound ($312.4 million) funding package which will run
from the end of the current arrangements in September until April
2022.
The company said this was a reflection of the government's
decision to provide a level of support to the bus network while
customer numbers recover after the anticipated ending of
pandemic-related restrictions later in July.
"The support we have received from [the] government over the
last 16 months has enabled us to continue to provide vital services
to communities, including essential journeys during the various
lockdowns," Chief Executive David Brown said.
