Chile's Antofagasta PLC said Thursday that it has restarted work at some mining operations that were affected by heavy rains and flooding on Wednesday.

The company had suspended operations at its Michilla and Centinela copper mines and at the Antucoya project, which is to be inaugurated later this year.

In a statement Thursday the company said that operations at the Michilla mine are ready to start functioning from tonight.

It said that at the Centinela site trucks are ready to be used and work is underway to progressively restart operations in distinct areas.

The company said that work on the Antucoya project was already restarting.

The Los Pelambres mine has been operating normally, the company has said.
