MARKET COMMENT: Paris Stocks Finish Session Slightly Higher
24 August 2013 - 2:20AM
Dow Jones News
1549 GMT [Dow Jones] CAC-40 ends 0.3% higher at 4069.47, as a
tumble in US new home sales in July is outweighed by growing
reassurance among market operators that the Federal Reserve will
slow expected tightening of monetary policy, says a Paris-based
trader. Confidence among euro zone consumers also rose in August to
its highest level in more than two years, adding to evidence of
nascent recovery. Among the biggest gainers on Paris's main index
are Total, up 1.9%, and ArcelorMittal, up 1.6%. The biggest loser
in Friday's session is Veolia Environnement, down 2.5%, following
an analyst downgrade. (sam.schechner@wsj.com)
