PARIS--Steel maker ArcelorMittal said Friday contractors working
on an expansion project in Liberia had started moving personnel out
of the country due to the current Ebola virus outbreak in West
Africa.
Luxemburg-based ArcelorMittal is working on an expansion project
to increase iron ore shipments from Yekepa and Buchanan to 15
million tons a year, from five million tons today.
"We are currently assessing the potential impact on the project
schedule," the company said in a statement.
ArcelorMittal said it remained "fully committed to Liberia," and
would continue to ship iron ore from the country.
