AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU), the world's third-largest producer of the metal, Friday said it has completed the sale of its one-third joint venture interest in the Boddington mine in Western Australia to Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM).

As a result, the Johannesburg-based gold producer has received $750 million in cash and been reimbursed roughly 225 million Australian dollars ($180 million) for contributions it made to the venture since the start of the year. AngloGold in return paid Newmont $8 million of its share of working capital.
