Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA (IBLA.MC), Spain's largest airline, Tuesday said its passenger load factor was 85.5% in August, up from 82.4% a year earlier.

MAIN FACTS:

- Load factor, a measure of occupancy used in the airline industry, is the percentage of all seats offered which are occupied on flights.

- In a regulatory filing, Iberia said load factor in the month rose as the result of higher demand for air travel, especially for long haul flights.

- Long haul flights had a load factor of 87.7% in August, up from 83.4% a year earlier.
