Partnership Enables Customers to Extend Video Surveillance Capabilities

Transition Networks, Inc., the fiber access technology expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-GM: JCS), today announced its new Silver Technology Partner status with Axis Communications.

As organizations around the world increase their use of video technology and broaden the size and scope of surveillance areas, the need for reliable, flexible, intelligent video security solutions has grown dramatically. This partnership extends the capabilities of customer security and surveillance solutions by pairing Axis Communications network cameras with Transition Networks connectivity products.

Axis Communications is one of the world’s most innovative video surveillance equipment manufacturers and Transition Networks provides an extensive line of hardened media conversion options and PoE+ switches. Paired together, the two companies deliver a full networking solution that meets the unique needs of the IP video surveillance market, offering a simple and cost-effective option for businesses to migrate from existing analog cameras to IP-based video networks.

“It is critical for surveillance installations to have a quality network infrastructure. Transition Networks is a long-established manufacturer of Carrier Class Ethernet network connectivity and provides a solid median between cost efficiency and high-quality performance,” said Vince Ricco, business development manager for the Technology Partner Program, Axis Communications, Inc. “The combination of Axis cameras and Transition Networks products offers a high-value, highly reliable solution.”

Retailers, corporations, law enforcement agencies and other organizations are faced with widespread challenges when it comes to installing, extending or upgrading their video security and surveillance environments. The Transition Networks partnership with Axis resolves the following issues:

  • Harsh Environments: Equipment can withstand extended temperature ranges.
  • Remote Management: As cameras are increasingly deployed in off-site locations, the ability to manage networks remotely saves time and reduces manpower needs.
  • Data Speed & Integrity: Transmitting quality video data, while controlling and monitoring multiple locations, requires assured connectivity and bandwidth.
  • Technology Integration: Migrating legacy environments to newer technologies becomes efficient and economical with media conversion products.
  • Discretion: Smaller camera, enclosure and media conversion form-factors enable discreet installation and monitoring.

In 2014, Axis opened a regional office in Chicago, including an Axis Experience Center, which has served as the first test and demo site for Transition Networks PoE switches with Axis cameras. Transition Networks switches are utilized within the lab and network, along with live feed from rooftop cameras. Axis plans to integrate Transition Networks demo equipment at future North America regional offices as well. These sites will offer product demonstrations to visiting customers and will serve as security and surveillance training facilities for Axis personnel.
