Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of
enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and
divisions of Global 1000 companies, today announced that ADAM Audio
GmbH from Berlin, Germany has selected Epicor. The international
manufacturer and developer of speakers for professional and home
use will implement the Epicor 9 next-generation enterprise resource
planning (ERP) system. With the Epicor solution, ADAM Audio intends
to solve its three main challenges: calculate accurate delivery
dates; minimize the amount of held stock; and, offer uncompromising
delivery performance.
"The requirements of specialized providers like ADAM Audio are
the same as for many other international companies," said Matt
Muldoon, vice president, product marketing for Epicor. "For
manufacturing companies it is vital to bridge the gap between being
able to guarantee delivery dates and at the same time reduce
storage volumes. This will only work, however, if a company can
achieve an integrated view of all its process flows, from
production, through to order, sales and delivery. You can then
create a competitive advantage, such as increased levels of
customer loyalty, because of prompt delivery and high production
quality while still reducing costs."
ADAM Audio produces high-end loudspeakers for recording studios
and hi-fi solutions for discerning home users. To create a crystal
clear sound experience special membranes are handmade in Germany
and the final product is assembled using housing parts and
electronic components from selected suppliers in Asia. It is
essential for ADAM Audio to be able to guarantee reliable delivery
dates to its global customers at the time of ordering, while
keeping its stock levels to an absolute minimum. "We need to access
current data from the entire inventory management chain at a
glance, so that we can compare that simultaneously with data about
production and capacity utilization in Germany, as well as with the
logistics delivery processes," said Klaus Heinz, managing director
for ADAM Audio.
Early promises about delivery dates are the result of complex
logistics and production process analysis in real time, where small
details can mean significant time and financial differences. "We
are a medium-sized manufacturer of high quality products for
time-critical applications that compete with large corporations,"
said Heinz. "Delivery accuracy is therefore a key competitive
advantage for us; something that for economic reasons can't be
managed by keeping high stock volumes."
As a fully integrated ERP solution, Epicor caters perfectly to
global manufacturing and logistics requirements. "We were able to
show ADAM Audio during the first demo that all the necessary
functions are provided in Epicor," said Epicor's Muldoon. "For
example, the Business Process Management (BPM) module allows
processes to be defined to ADAM Audio's individual requirements
without additional programming effort. The integrated ERP approach
also includes handheld mobile solutions that ADAM Audio can use to
gather information about, and control, on site stock
movements."
ADAM Audio will use nearly all functionality in the Epicor ERP
solution, including support for mixed production requirements,
which enables easy adaption to the financial control of individual
and mass production. In addition Epicor ERP covers a full spectrum
of supply chain management tools for execution and distribution
processes. "An important criterion for us was that the ERP solution
is based on a flexible IT architecture," said Heinz. "Epicor's
sophisticated service-oriented architecture (SOA) allows us to
redesign potential future process changes in the system, without
having to rely on external help from consultants."
The Epicor solution records information about procurement in
Asia and Germany as well as data about delivery, transportation
alternatives, stock levels and production capacity, and then
presents that data on a dashboard for the management team. This
means that every detail within the order cycle can be evaluated and
carried out as efficiently as possible. It is, for example,
possible at any given time to accurately calculate possible
delivery dates, including the associated costs. To support the
company's future growth, the SOA platform ensures that future
updates and functional extensions can easily be incorporated into
the ERP solution.
