Longvie S. A. Selects Epicor(R) Next-Generation ERP

Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of
enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and
divisions of Global 1000 companies, today announced that Argentine
company Longvie S. A. has selected the Epicor 9 next-generation
enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Longvie S. A. is a
leading manufacturer and distributor of home and kitchen appliances
including ovens, burners, boilers, heaters and water heaters.
With 92 years in the Argentine market, Longvie S. A. exports to
South America, the United States, Canada and Georgia. The company
is well known for its focus on innovation and the quality of its
products.
"We are a family business and have been listed on the stock
exchange for 60 years. Today, we have more than 700 employees in
three plants located in Villa Martelli, Entre Rios and Catamarca,
and we offer the most manufacturing lines in Argentina serving this
industry," said Eduardo Zimmermann, sales manager at Longvie S. A.
"For more than 10 years we have been working with disparate
technology platforms -- the first one based on IBM AS400, and the
second one on Microsoft SQL and Visual Basic -- and we develop and
manage interfaces in order to communicate between the two
platforms. In addition, we are also working with another system for
MRP as our production platform. With Epicor ERP we will gain an
integrated and robust enterprise solution, with the specific
functionality required to meet our business needs."
Using different technology platforms, Longvie S. A. was
challenged with static interfaces that duplicated information and
generated obstacles that needed to be fixed. Zimmerman continued,
"We made internal upgrades, and implemented new technology as it
became available; but we were still unable to integrate all of the
platforms. We had information available, but getting to that
information required significant efforts in maintenance and
upgrades. Likewise, the information lacked consistency -- in some
cases the information was good, but it also had weaknesses."
After evaluating five different ERP providers, Longvie S. A.
selected Epicor based on its modern technology, flexibility and
integrated platform.
"Epicor ERP characteristics including its ease of use,
integration with Microsoft Office, and its strengths in
manufacturing were key in our decision. We were also interested in
Epicor's tax engine system, it was very important for us to find an
adequate solution to handle the complex tax requirements that we
have in Argentina. Epicor has a powerful tax engine, which is a
great differentiator from their competitors," commented
Zimmerman.
Among some of the other reasons Longvie S. A. selected Epicor
was the company's highly knowledgeable and professional team of ERP
experts. "Epicor gave us confidence, responding to our needs and to
the set of criteria we required in the evaluation meetings," said
Zimmermann.
After selecting Epicor as their business partner, Longvie S.A.
is now preparing to begin implementation in March and is looking
forward to the business benefits of Epicor ERP.
"With Epicor we expect to significantly increase productivity by
giving employees in all of our plants access to the same
information," said Zimmerman. "For Longvie S.A. it will be
important to be able to run processes continuously and in less
time; with Epicor we expect to be able to run MRP every 20 minutes,
instead of once a month. This will optimize raw materials stock,
finished goods, and products that are in production, while also
helping us to be more efficient in the shipment and sale of
product, without sacrificing customer service."
Longvie S. A. plans to implement approximately 95% of the
functionality available in Epicor ERP, and expects to have between
130 and 150 users.
"The commitment of our team is fundamental to making this
project a success; we have an excellent internal team working to
make this a success and to ensure we reach all of the objectives
that we have set together with Epicor," concluded Zimmermann.
