Some TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. (AMTD) clients were unable to view streaming stock quotes late Tuesday, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

The spokeswoman said the issue occurred shortly before the stock market closed at 4 p.m. EDT, and affected quotes for customers using one of the two platforms operated by TD Ameritrade. But she said, "this does not impact trading on these platforms, nor are the thinkorswim platforms affected in any way."

TD Ameritrade acquired options brokerage thinkorswim in June 2009 to advance its trading technology and boost its presence in the active trader market.

The spokeswoman said, "we are working on a resolution [to the issue] and hope to have one soon."

The latest glitch for the Omaha, Neb. online broker is the company's third technology problem in the past three weeks; some customers were unable to access TD Ameritrade's website on Monday and on May 20.

On Monday, Ameritrade said the service disruption affected a "very small number of clients" and was related to a "connection issue with a certain Internet service provider." The company declined to name the vendor.

TD Ameritrade didn't have any website issues during the May 6 "flash crash," but experienced a surge in its trading volume, along with its rivals Charles Schwab Corp. (SCHW) and E*Trade Financial Corp. (ETFC).

Shares of TD Ameritrade closed Tuesday up 54 cents, or 3.1%, at $17.79.
