Geac Honors Customer Innovation at ALLIANCE2005 Conference Awards Highlight Customer Achievement and Operational Excellence Across Geac Product Lines SOUTHBOROUGH, MA, July 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Geac(R) (TSX:GAC, NASDAQ:GEAC) today announced the recipients of its annual Customer Excellence Awards presented recently at ALLIANCE2005, Geac's customer conference. Geac presented awards to selected Geac customers - one from each of Geac's enterprise application systems (EAS) product lines, as well as the Geac Commercial Systems Division - who have used Geac products in an innovative way, allowing their organizations to save time and money, and gain operational efficiencies. This year's award recipients include Brigham Young University, FKI Security Group, Harris Teeter, Kinetic Concepts Inc., MetroNational Corporation, Temple University, and The Woodlands. "The seven customers we've honored here are representative of the broad range of organizations deriving demonstrable value from Geac's expanding suite of applications," said Charles S. Jones, Geac's president and CEO. "Each has integrated Geac software - in some cases a suite of Geac products - into its operations to positively impact the organization's financial value chain. Our success is a direct result of these and many other customers realizing tangible business benefits from their Geac systems." Following is the list of Geac's 2005 Customer Excellence Award recipients by product line, and the operational improvements achieved as a result of their implementation of specific Geac products. - Geac Expense Management - Brigham Young University (BYU) achieved impressive efficiencies using Geac Expense Management in a hosted environment. Specifically, BYU successfully automated expense report approval workflow and interfaced its Geac Expense Management system with existing HR, AP and GL applications as well as JPMC and Amex corporate card systems. The university implemented several new and improved processes, including direct credit card feeds and direct deposit of all payments and reimbursements. As a result, BYU realized substantial savings related to reduced expense report processing time, FTEs needed to manage the control processes, cycle time improvements, communication to and from end users, improved reporting and enhanced development of the self-service model. - Geac System21 - FKI Security Group, which manufactures and distributes a broad range of Fire King brand and other loss prevention products, recently completed an executive value analysis of their business processes, part of an ongoing initiative at FKI to pursue operational excellence and maximize ROI from the effective use of business software. The results of that analysis led to an upgrade to System21 Aurora and deployment of System21's service management solution. - Geac E Series - Southeast regional food market chain Harris Teeter used Geac Process Management with their existing E Series applications to create more efficient human resources (HR) systems, including new hire and termination processes. Now new employee information can be entered in store locations and updated to HR so that information is entered only once, and paperwork is no longer passed between locations. Harris Teeter created a similar process for employee terminations, resulting in cost savings and streamlined operations. - Geac Performance Management (MPC) - Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI), a San Antonio, Texas-based supplier of specialty hospital beds, significantly improved its business insight by creating six applications within Geac MPC, Geac's integrated performance management software suite. Using MPC, KCI now has real-time financial reporting; sales forecasting for better utilization of its rental fleet; and revenue reporting for the home care market down to the zip code level. In addition, KCI now can deliver critical financial data to its field staff within two days of closing, many times faster than previously possible. - Geac AMSI eSite - Houston-based MetroNational Corp. - a privately-held, billion dollar real estate investment, development and management company - saved more than $35,000 per year on third-party service fees and increased collections by nearly 50% within nine months by implementing a resident utility billings system for water charges in eSite, one of seven integrated modules within Geac's AMSI Web-based property management software suite. Now, instead of paying a national billing company to process water bills for several of its older properties, MetroNational generates invoices for residents showing their next month's billing as well as any delinquency. - Geac M Series - Temple University, a long-standing Geac M Series customer, recently integrated M Series report distribution with their e-mail system, so that reports generated from M Series applications can be e-mailed to the appropriate departments. Efficiencies from this project have been impressive: The investment made in developing the solution was returned within just three months. The user community has taken very quickly to the e-mail module, as they have been able to dramatically reduce the volume of hard copy reports printed and the amount of time required to distribute reports to the appropriate manager. - Geac SmartStream - Efficient, accurate and thorough financial tracking using Geac SmartStream has been integral to the success of The Woodlands, the No. 1 master planned community in Texas and No. 5 in the United States overall. The Woodlands is home to more than 75,000 residents on 28,000 acres, comprising 56 distinct legal entities - an extremely complex operation that benefits from the performance and flexibility of Geac's SmartStream ERP suite.
