Deterministic Networks Announces Spinout; Company to Enter Network Performance Optimization Market
01 November 2005 - 4:01AM
Business Wire
Deterministic Networks Inc. today announced that it has completed
its spinout from Gilat Satellite Networks (Nasdaq:GILTF) and has
begun operating as an independent entity. Formerly a networking and
security tools vendor, Deterministic Networks was acquired by Gilat
in July of 2000 to create products which enhanced performance of
data traffic in Satellite Networks. Over the past five years,
Deterministic has built the NetworkJustice(TM) line of products
including FairShare, a bandwidth management/traffic shaping system,
Bandwidth Bank, delivering volume-based network controls, Traffic
Analyzer, which does large scale analysis, and Policy Agent, which
provides end-to-end optimization, marking, and quality of service
(QoS). These products have been deployed worldwide helping optimize
performance and maximize numbers of users in Gilat's customer
networks. Deterministic President and CEO Steve Jackowski said,
"We've learned a lot about securely maximizing throughput and
numbers of users in complex satellite networks. With the
proliferation of wireless technologies, we believe we can extend
these lessons to show the same levels of performance improvements
in terrestrial networks." Jackowski explained, "Satellite networks,
with their inherent delay, are just the most extreme examples of
wireless networks. If we can optimize performance there, justifying
costs of satellite transponders, we can optimize performance of any
type of WAN -- wireless or wired." Gilat's Vice President, Research
and Development Yossi Gal said, "We believe Deterministic has a
major opportunity outside the satellite environment and we wanted
to encourage Deterministic to pursue this opportunity. These
products, which have earned their stripes in satellite
environments, are planned at providing substantial performance
improvements in terrestrial networks as well." NetworkJustice
products are software-based, running on a variety of hardware
platforms, from single-processor-embedded systems, PDAs, and phones
to fully redundant servers. NetworkJustice products are available
now from Deterministic Networks. About Deterministic Networks, Inc.
