Glu Mobile Inc. (Nasdaq:GLUU), a leading global publisher of
mobile games, today announced plans to create and publish a mobile
game based on the upcoming DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc
(Nasdaq:DWA) film, How To Train Your Dragon, which will be released
in theaters beginning on March 26, 2010.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to build on past
successes with DreamWorks Animation and bring adventure and family
fun to gamers with the How To Train Your Dragon mobile game,” said
Alex Galvagni, CTO & SVP Global Product Development, Glu.
“DreamWorks Animation continues to inspire us to create games that
live up to their incredibly imaginative stories and captivating
graphics and imagery.”
Today’s announcement marks the third title that Glu will develop
and publish through its existing licensing agreements with
DreamWorks Animation. Other mobile game titles include Madagascar:
Escape 2 Africa and Monsters vs. Aliens.
In the How to Train Your Dragon mobile game, players take on the
roles of the main characters from the film: Hiccup, the Viking
teenager who doesn’t exactly fit in with his tribe’s longstanding
tradition of heroic dragon slayers; and Toothless, the sleek,
stealthy, fire-breathing dragon that changes everything the Vikings
know about dragons.
Inspired by the movie’s storyline, the game immerses players in
the unique environments from the film as they explore the
treacherous terrain of the Viking home Island of Berk and soar
through the open skies above.
The How To Train Your Dragon mobile game will launch on feature
phones and smartphones in conjunction with the movie premiere from
DreamWorks Animation. For live updates, follow Glu on Twitter at
