Hayes Lemmerz in Brazil Earns 2004 DaimlerChrysler Interacao Award NORTHVILLE, Mich., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAYZ) announced today that its steel wheel manufacturing operation in Sao Paulo, Brazil has received the DaimlerChrysler Brazil "Interacao Award." The award recognizes Hayes Lemmerz for the quality of its lighter, more cost-effective commercial truck steel wheels supplied to Mercedes-Benz. The "Interacao Award" is given annually by DaimlerChrysler Brazil to honor the outstanding performance of its suppliers. In 2004, DaimlerChrysler Brazil presented a total of 11 awards in the categories of Rationalization of Project and Processes, Technological Development, Quality, Indirect Material & Services, and also in the Special category. Nearly 500 suppliers were in attendance at a special ceremony held recently in Sao Paulo, Brazil. At the ceremony, President Gero Hermann and Frithjof Punke, Vice President of Purchasing of DaimlerChrysler Brazil presented the award to Nini Degani, Managing Director South American Operations of Hayes Lemmerz and Giovani Sesso, General Manager of the Company's steel wheel facility in Brazil.
